The buyers, as always, are numerous, coming from Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, the United States, Hungary, Canada, England, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Australia, Sweden, Estonia, Japan, and Indonesia.

The extra virgin olive oil exhibition will be open today and tomorrow from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

Olio Capitale is organized by the Venice Giulia Chamber of Commerce through its in-house company Aries, under the patronage of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty, and Forests. It is co-organized by the City of Trieste and the Trieste Convention and Visitors Bureau, with partners the National Association of Olive Oil Cities and the Mirabilia Network Association, and supported by "Io Sono Friuli Venezia Giulia" and Unioncamere.

CALABRIA SHINES AT "OLIO CAPITALE"

Regional Assessor Gallo: "In recent years, we have focused on quality, not mass production."

Calabria plays a leading role at Olio Capitale, showcasing its high-quality extra virgin olive oil. This important presence supports a product that is growing year after year, with the goal of positioning Calabria among the top producers nationally. Calabria produces approximately 35,000 tons of oil annually and, in terms of olive grove area and the number of mills, it ranks second only to Puglia.

"Calabria is a region of great biodiversity, with many varieties. We are national leaders in organic production," says Gianluca Gallo, the Assessor for Agriculture and Agri-food of the Calabria Region. "Even in the olive oil sector, we are focusing entirely on quality because we want quality oils, not mass production. Through quality, we can achieve appropriate production values."

OLEOTOURISM TO PROMOTE TERRITORY AND INTEGRATE OLIVE GROWERS' OFFERING

This morning, the Mirabilia network conference took place, aiming to inform and train operators about the dynamics of oleotourism and the opportunities that arise from the evolution of experiential tourism linked to typical local products.

The event was opened by Guerrino Lanci, a Councilor for the Venice Giulia Chamber of Commerce and President of Federalberghi Trieste. "Mirabilia has recently merged with Isnart, the in-house company of the Chamber of Commerce system dedicated to tourism," said Lanci. "For four years, it has been a pleasure to host a moment dedicated to oleotourism at Olio Capitale, supporting and promoting this fantastic way to discover territories and their excellences. The seminar aims to present the development of oleotourism from both the demand and supply sides, identifying growth opportunities, and exploring how to better communicate the experiences offered and raise the quality of the proposed activities and related services."

OLIVE TREE DONATION TO THE CITY OF TRIESTE

The municipality of Corato donated an olive tree to the city of Trieste this morning. The ceremony took place at the Corato stand, represented by Deputy Mayor and Assessor for Educational and Cultural Policies, Beniamino Marcone, and Assessor for Productive Activities, Concetta Bucci.

The City of Trieste was represented by Mayor Dipiazza and Deputy Mayor and Assessor for Economic Policies, Serena Tonel, who is also the National Councilor for Friuli Venezia Giulia of the National Association of Olive Oil Cities.

The tree is symbolic of friendship and the valorization of the olive tree and oil.

No single scientific definition of the term exists, and it has been applied to a variety of rock features that fall into one of four general categories: - A glacial erratic is a boulder that was transported and deposited by glaciers or ice rafts to a resting place on soil, on bedrock, or on other boulders. It usually has a different lithology from the other rocks around it. Not all glacial erratics are balancing rocks; some are firmly seated on the ground. Some balancing erratics have come to be known as rocking stones, also known as logan rocks, logan stones, or logans, because they are so finely balanced that the application of just a small force may cause them to rock or sway. A good example of a rocking stone is the Logan Rock in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom; another is the Trembling Rock in Brittany, France. - A perched block, also known as a perched boulder or perched rock, is a large, detached rock fragment that most commonly was transported and deposited by a glacier to a resting place on glacial till, often on the side of a hill or slope. Some perched blocks were not produced by glacial action, but were the aftermath of a rock fall, landslide, or avalanche.
An erosional remnant is a persisting rock formation that remains after extensive wind, water, and/or chemical erosion. To the untrained eye, it may appear to be visually like a glacial erratic, but instead of being transported and deposited, it was carved from the local bedrock. Many good examples of erosional remnants are seen in Karlu Karlu/Devils Marbles Conservation Reserve in the Northern Territory of Australia. - A pedestal rock, also known as a rock pedestal or mushroom rock, is not a true balancing rock, but is a single continuous rock form with a very small base leading up to a much larger crown. Some of these formations are called balancing rocks because of their appearance. The undercut base was attributed for many years to simple wind abrasion, but is now believed to result from a combination of wind and enhanced chemical weathering at the base where moisture would be retained longest. Some pedestal rocks sitting on taller spire formations are known as hoodoos.
